If you are a GB-based business looking to transport goods between GB and the EU, you’ll need to organise three things.

  1. Your GB export documents.

Before importing into the EU, make sure that you have the correct GB export documents.

From there, you will need…

  1. Your EU import documents.

Without adhering to the strict regulations set out by each country, you will be unable to export your goods from GB or import them into the EU.

  1. Transport.

Once the paperwork is sorted, you will need to source the right transport for your goods.

Here’s what you need to know about overseas customs.

There’s no “one size fits all” approach.

When importing goods into the EU from Great Britain, the exact import and export documents you will need to provide will depend on which country you will be importing them into.

For example, when exporting goods from GB into France, you will need:

  • Export declaration (for exporting from GB)
  • Import declaration (for importing into France)
  • Goods movement reference (GMR)
  • SI Brexit
  • Entry summary declaration (ENS)

Meanwhile, exporting goods from GB into Spain will only require:

  • Export declaration
  • Import declaration
  • GMR
  • ENS
