It’s easier than you think.

After Brexit, companies need to submit a transit customs declaration in order to ship goods to and from mainland Europe.

Here’s what you need to know about organising your transit declaration.

What is a transit declaration?

Transit is a customs process that permits non-free-moving goods to move within the UK or EU while customs duties or other fees are suspended.

There are two primary classifications of transit declaration.

A T1 status declaration, for example, may be applicable where the movement of goods begins in Great Britain. Another example is where the movement of goods (that are not in free circulation) begins in Northern Ireland.

The other main type of transit declaration is a T2.

Movements that begin in Northern Ireland will be given T2 status (providing that the goods are in free circulation). Movements beginning in the EU, including the Republic of Ireland, will also be defined as T2.

At Reload, our team can support you with both your T1 and T2 status transit declarations.

Using another broker? No problem.

We can process your transit declaration even if you have filed your export declaration with another broker.

(Please note, to do this, we will require the SAD document from your broker.)

‘Normal’ or ‘simplified’ procedures? We can help with both.

Our freight forwarding experts can provide your business with both the “normal” and “simplified” transit procedures.

In a ‘normal’ customs procedure, you are required to go to the customs office of the correct office of departure.

During the ‘normal’ procedure, we will provide you with a Local Reference Number (LRN) which must be given to the customs office in order to produce a Transit Accompanying Document (TAD) and activate the transit declaration.

For the ‘simple’ procedure, however, this can be done in-house.

Thanks to our Authorised Consignor Status, we can activate the TAD ourselves, meaning that you won’t have to go to a specific office of departure to activate the declaration.
