Poland remains Europe’s leading nation for international road haulage, despite slower annual growth than in previous years, according to a study published by France’s road freight data agency, the Comité National Routier (CNR).
Polish trucking companies clocked up a mind blowing 156,034 million tonne kilometres (tkm) of international traffic movements, up 1.1% on the previous year - Polish hauliers alone carry one-quarter of international road freight in the EU.
Second place was Spain, followed by Germany then The Netherlands whilst UK hauliers occupied 19th place. Bulgaria and Romania posted the highest growth from the previous year.
